KNOW MORE ABOUT STRUCTURAL STEEL CUTTING TECHNIQUES

Cutting structural steel is an important section within the industry. It is necessary for industrial applications and should be performed by professionals due to the requirement for both accuracy and efficiency. Different methods and tools exist for cutting structural steel and the type of technique and tool selected depends on the specific situation.

ABRASIVE HIGH-PRESSURE WATER JETS:

They are used for jobs in occupied buildings like hospitals, hotels or office buildings. This is because the water jet does not leave gas, dust or slag and also does not cause vibrations that can damage sensitive equipment in the building. Because it is so quiet, the water jet creates less sound than plasma cutters or laser cutters. Cutting steel using abrasive high-pressure water jets requires high-pressure plunger pumps that push the water and small particles of an abrasive such as silica sand at a point on the steel to construct a cut. It can be controlled and adjusted to cut angles, curves, or shapes into structural steel plates. We deal with ms chequered plate in some companies by providing good quality and reasonable price. The machinery uses small tools that can cut steel into any shape regardless of the steel’s position.

PLASMA CUTTING:

Plasma cutters are used to cut the structural steel into several shapes. It uses localized cutting cone on a torch that blows either an active gas or compressed gas at high pressure while an electric arc turns the gas into plasma. This plasma then defrosts the structural steel without leaving chips and moves at a speed allowing it to blow the melting steel away from the cutting point. Most hands held plasma torches can cut through steel that is about 2 inches wide.

LASER CUTTING:

Laser cutting is used for most industrial manufacturing task. It works making use of a high-power laser beam to pierce the structural steel, thereby generating a starting point for the cut. The high power laser beam burns the structural steel without twisting, melting it away at the cutting point and leaving a fine edge. It should be noted that laser cutting is more accurate than mechanical cutting seeing as the laser cannot dull during use.
